French pâtissier Ladurée has expanded at The Royal Exchange in the City of London, taking a 556 sq ft unit on a 10-year lease. The Parisian brand, which has been open at The Royal Exchange since September 2020, has moved to an external-facing unit on the Threadneedle side of the building. Founded in 1862, Ladurée has 10 UK outlets and a presence in over 20 countries worldwide. As well as macarons, the brand also offers chocolates, pastries, and gift assortments.

Aldi is set to expand its London estate this year with a £40m investment into eight new stores. The expansion targets areas within the capital and Greater London, with new stores planned in Hanworth, Willesden, Watford, Marble Arch, Hoxton, Orpington West, Epsom, and Stepney Green. In addition, existing Aldi stores in Enfield and Kilburn will also undergo refurbishments this year. This comes after the discounter opened a number of new stores within the M25 in 2025, including in Wimbledon, Fulham Broadway, Shoreditch, Caterham, Uxbridge, Old Kent Road, and Kentish Town, alongside an extension in Colindale.

Italian pasta restaurant Padella has opened its first location in London's West End at 2 Kingly Street in Soho. The concept – founded by hospitality duo Jordan Frieda and chef Tim Siadatan – has taken a two-storey, 2,300 sq ft unit with space for 80 covers. Known for its contemporary small-plates approach, Padella offers signature dishes including pici cacio e pepe and beef shin ragu, catering to both quick visits or more relaxed occasions.
