Planning permission awarded for £2bn expansion of York City Centre

The first phase of development at urban regeneration scheme York Central has received planning approval from the City of York Council. McLaren Development, in partnership with Arlington Real Estate, will now look to deliver over 1,000 new homes alongside a commercial district, a hotel, and a new station entrance at the site. New public squares, a public park, and a network of courtyards, cycle ways, and footpaths will also be created to connect the new 110-acre quarter to the rest of the city.

Ikea opens 'Plan & Order Point' in York

Ikea has continued its ongoing expansion with the opening of a 'Plan & Order Point' store at Clifton Moor Retail Park in York. The smaller format store is dedicated to kitchen and bedroom planning, and provides customers with home furnishing advice. Customers are able to book a free appointment with one of the York store’s six planning specialists or use the in-store self-service tools to design their own solution.

Ikea is set to open its first-ever store in York with the opening of a 'Plan and Order' point at Clifton Moor Retail Park. The retailer's Plan and Order Points are smaller stores, which look to provide customers with bespoke kitchen and storage planning services. At these locations, customers can access furnishing advice from Ikea workers, who can assist them in planning, purchasing, and installing their kitchens and bedroom and living room storage.
