Merry Hill in Dudley has welcomed the arrival of Slim Chickens, as the fried chicken restaurant opens the first of three sites this month. Spanning 5,229 sq ft, the two-storey restaurant will be able to accommodate up to 160 guests and will offer a range of Southern-inspired flavours. The opening follows the recent announcement that outdoor recreation retailer Cotswold Outdoor has signed for a triple fascia store at Merry Hill, alongside sister brands Runners Need and Snow + Rock.

Aberdeen Investments, acting on behalf of the Standard Life Pooled Pension Property Fund, has acquired a retail park in the West Midlands for £69.6m. The fund has purchased Sears Retail Park in Solihull, which extends to 136,300 sq ft and is anchored by Next and Marks & Spencer. Other retailers at the scheme include TkMaxx, Homesense, Boots, and Mountain Warehouse. The acquisition is the fund's second such investment in the past 12 months, after it acquired the Tandem Centre in Colliers Wood in 2024.

Outdoor recreation retailer Costwold Outdoor has signed for an 8,000 sq ft, triple fascia store at Merry Hill, along with its sister brands Runners Need and Snow + Rock. The brand will open on the Dudley scheme's upper level later this month, adjacent to Virgin Holiday's recently-relocated store. Combining Cotswold Outdoor, Runners Need, and Snow + Rock, the space will offer clothing, footwear, and accessories for activities such as walking, running, and winter sports.
