Chopstix opens fourth Essex site at Basildon's Eastgate Shopping Centre

Pan-Asian quick-service restaurant brand Chopstix has opened its fourth site in Essex at Eastgate Shopping Centre, Basildon. The opening of the 52-seat restaurant follows successful sites in Lakeside, Romford, and Ilford. With over 150 Chopstix Group sites in the UK, the business is continuing to open new sites through both company-operated and franchise ownership models. The Basildon restaurant marks the company's fifth equity opening of 2024, in addition to a number of openings with its new and existing franchise partners, including Haven and Welcome Break.

Landsec ups stake in Kent's Bluewater

2 June 2024

Landsec has completed the acquisition of an additional 17.5% stake of Bluewater in Kent from GIC for £120m, bringing its total ownership of the scheme to 66.25%. The real estate investment trust said that based on the income its existing interest in Bluewater generated during the last financial year, the acquisition will increase its net rental income by an additional £10.3m a year. Landsec said the transaction is in line with its objective to grow its investment in major retail destinations, recycling capital from recent disposals.

Redical appoints new leasing team to The Liberty Romford

Redical has announced the appointment of Cushman & Wakefield and Green & Partners to act on retail and food and beverage leasing at The Liberty Romford. The new leasing team will look to help elevate and evolve the Romford scheme, which is home to 120 brands in total including Primark, H&M, M&S, Flannels, JD Sports, Footlocker, and Next. Alongside The Liberty's new leasing director Oliver Lloyd and asset manager Daniel Tucker, Cushman & Wakefield and Green & Partners will work together to help drive the destination forward, with the latter leading on lease expiries and rent reviews.
