Mago Capital has acquired a mixed-use parade in Cobham, Surrey, for £40m. The London-based real estate investment and asset management firm has snapped up Oakdene Parade, its first acquisition outside of the capital. Located on a 2.1 estate, the parade is anchored by Waitrose and comprises 21 retail and restaurant units, along with 22 residential flats on the upper floors. Cobham is one of the most affluent towns in the UK and is located in Surrey’s prime corridor alongside Esher, Oxshott, and Weybridge.

A lack of quality out-of-town space continues to be the challenge faced by retailers in 2026, according to the delegates Completely Retail News spoke to at September's Alliance Retail Exchange (ARX) event. Demand for retail warehousing space remains high, but many retailers and operators are continuing to find a lack of churn to be the biggest obstacle to their expansion plans. As a result, rents are expected to grow, while landlords and prospective tenants are having to be more creative to create new opportunities in the out-of-town market.

Brook Taverner continues expansion with Guildford opening

Brook Taverner has continued its expansion with the opening of its 17th UK store in Guildford, Surrey. Located at 76 High Street, the British brand's new space offers a range of menswear, including both smart casualwear and occasion dressing, as well as a dedicated wedding service. Brook Taverner has opened an average of two stores a year since 2017 and is targeting a UK estate of up to 30 locations within the next five years.
