Wine bar operator Vagabond is set to open its first new high street location outside of London on Brighton's Duke Street. Spanning 2,980 sq ft, the new venue, which was formerly occupied by Browns Brasserie, is set to open in late autumn following a refurbishment. The opening will mark Vagabond's first foray into the capital since its Birmingham launch in 2021. The venue will feature the brand's range of signature self-pour wine machines, offering a selection of over 100 wines by the glass, including a host of English wines produced at Vagabond’s own Urban Winery in Canada Water.

Neve Jewels, trading as Diamonds Factory, is set to open its first UK boutique outside of the capital in Brighton. The jeweller has secured a five-year lease for a 325 sq ft space at 26b North Street in an off-market transaction. Neve Jewels operates across three brands: Diamonds Factory; Austen Blake; and Sacet. Diamonds Factory currently has boutiques in London, Paris, Berlin and Sydney. Alexander Denning of SHW, which acted for the landlord, said: “With our strong market knowledge in the South East retail sector we were aware of the requirement of Neve Jewels and proactively approached one our clients who had a shop due to be vacant, which matched the retailer’s requirements.

Japanese restaurant group Taro is set to open its ninth location and its first outside of London in Brighton. The operator will open its new location in September, after signing a 20-year lease for a 1,280 sq ft unit at 60 Ship Street. The space includes a dining area and bar on the ground floor, leading to another dining area to the rear alongside the kitchen. Ship Street connects North Street to Brighton's Lanes and is one of the highest footfall areas in the city.
