LondonMetric Property has acquired a retail park on the outskirts of Basildon, Essex for £10m, as the group disposes £58m of non-core assets. Located adjacent to the A13, Old Market Retail Park is let to Pets at Home, Poundland, Farmfoods, McDonald's, and KFC. The scheme has a weighted average unexpired lease term of five years. Sue Ryder has relocated at The Willows Centre in Wickford, Essex, upsizing from its previous store at the scheme. Taking a 2,710 sq ft unit on a 10-year lease, the charity – which is known for its support and hospice care services – will be able to diverse its offering. Moving from its former, 1,987 sq ft location, Sue Ryder's new store will add a range of furniture to its existing collections of clothes and accessories.

Pan-Asian quick-service restaurant brand Chopstix has opened its fourth site in Essex at Eastgate Shopping Centre, Basildon. The opening of the 52-seat restaurant follows successful sites in Lakeside, Romford, and Ilford. With over 150 Chopstix Group sites in the UK, the business is continuing to open new sites through both company-operated and franchise ownership models. The Basildon restaurant marks the company's fifth equity opening of 2024, in addition to a number of openings with its new and existing franchise partners, including Haven and Welcome Break.
