The Meadows in Chelmsford has completed a raft of new signings, led by leisure operator Hollywood Bowl. Spanning 30,000 sq ft, the operator's new venue will open this winter and feature multi-lane bowling, a games zone, and a sports bar. Hollywood Bowl will anchor the growing leisure hub at the scheme, complementing the existing Odeon cinema and food and beverage offer. This F&B offer is also being expanded with the addition of restaurant brand Smoke & Pepper.

M Core fully lets Chelmsford shopping centre

M Core has fully let High Bridge Place in Chelmsford, Essex, following its latest tenant signing. Independent restaurant operator Smoke & Dough has signed a 15-year lease on the final vacant unit at the destination. The 8,586 sq ft space – formerly occupied by TGI Friday's – becomes the second location for the restaurant, which made its debut at Liverpool ONE in 2019. Smoke & Dough is an interactive restaurant where each table has a coal pit for customers to grill their own meat.

Private investor acquires Colchester retail park for £34m

A private South African client of Pembrey Asset Management has acquired Stane Retail Park in Colchester from the developer Churchmanor Estates for £33.95m. Comprising 123,637 sq ft of retail accommodation, the scheme was opened in phases between October 2021 and October 2022 and is anchored by an 80,000 sq ft purpose-built M&S store. Other tenants at Stane Retail Park include Superdrug, Mountain Warehouse, Furniture Village, Greggs, and Cook.
