Liverpool shopping centre redevelopment set for approval

Plans to redevelop the Bootle Strand shopping centre in Liverpool look set to be given the go-ahead by councillors next week. The planning application includes proposals for the creation of a new town square and landscaping work to better connect the scheme with the nearby Salt and Tar events venue. There are also proposals to divide the former M&S building into six individual units. The application will be considered by Sefton Council's planning committee next Wednesday (15th January).

Gym operator Snap Fitness has opened its 100th location in the UK & Ireland, following the launch of its latest gym in Southport. Having opened its first site in Kent in 2012, Snap Fitness has grown to become the sixth-largest gym operator in the UK, with gyms in England, Wales, Scotland, and the Republic of Ireland. Between March 2023 and March 2024, Snap Fitness grew its membership base by 17.

LCP snaps up Southport retail park

London & Cambridge Properties (LCP) has acquired the Central 12 retail park on the outskirts of Southport for an undisclosed fee. Anchored by Asda, the 162,143 sq ft scheme's 13 units are occupied by tenants including The Range, Poundland, Boots, and Next. The retail park on Derby Road is close to Southport Railway Station is also home to a 600-space car park. Discount retailer B&M will become the scheme's first new tenant since LCP, which is part of M Core, acquired the site a few weeks ago.
