The Cotswold Company has opened a new store in <a href="https://completelyretail.co.uk/shops-to-rent/bath">Bath</a>, as it continues the expansion of its omnichannel offering.



Spanning 4,000 sq ft, the furniture retailer's Bath store is located in a historic Georgian building on Northgate Street.



Ralph Tucker, chief executive of the Cotswold Company, said: “We’re delighted to announce the launch of our ninth&nbsp;store, located in Bath, as we continue to support our digital-led model with welcoming, differentiated retail stores that enable our customers to truly experience our brand.



“This Bath store is exceptionally exciting, as we have had lots of requests from customers to bring a store to the city. I am delighted we have been able to secure such a fantastic location in an iconic British city so close to our authentic Cotswold heritage.



“We are confident that our model of opening carefully curated stores in strategically important locations, supported by locally relevant digital marketing initiatives, and high-quality service – both in-store and via our white glove delivery service – sets us apart as we continue to carefully expand and grow our brand.”



The True Global-backed retailer is set to open its tenth store in early 2024.

Zara has made its debut in <a href="https://completelyretail.co.uk/shops-to-rent/bath">Bath</a> after opening in the city's open-air shopping destination <a href="https://completelyretail.co.uk/scheme/southgate-bath-4668">SouthGate</a>.



The Inditex-owned fashion retailer has taken multiple units on SouthGate Place, comprising 32,000 sq ft of space over two floors.



Zara joins the recently-opened 5,000 sq ft Goldsmith's store at SouthGate, as well as Oliver Bonas which opened earlier this year. The retailers sit alongside retailers including Lululemon, Levi's, Apple, Urban Outfitters, Franco Manca, and Comptoir Libanais.



<a href="https://news.completelyretail.co.uk/southgate-makes-two-retail-signings/">At the time of the signing</a>, Kate Lea, head of shopping centre leasing at British Land, said: “ZARA’s decision to choose SouthGate for its first store in the city is a testament to the popularity of the destination, and the work we’ve done to make the centre as attractive and engaging for customers as possible.”



The lettings have built on what was a strong first half of the year for scheme owner British Land, which saw 1 million sq ft of retail deals being signed across its portfolio.



<a href="https://completelyretail.co.uk/portfolio/BritishLand">British Land</a> and SouthGate joint owners <a href="https://completelyretail.co.uk/portfolio/Aviva">Aviva Investors </a>were advised by Cushman &amp; Wakefield.

AEW UK has completed the acquisition of an office-led mixed-use building in <a href="https://completelyretail.co.uk/shops-to-rent/bath">Bath</a> for £11.5m.



The 51,632 sq ft asset sits adjacent to the <a href="https://completelyretail.co.uk/portfolio/aviva/scheme/SouthGate-Bath">SouthGate</a> Shopping Centre and is close proximity to Bath Spa Train Station, Bath Cathedral, the Roman Baths, and Pulteney Bridge.



The site is currently multi-let to five tenants across office and retail accommodation, with the majority of the building let to four office tenants. A vacant retail unit on the ground floor is currently under offer to an "established local retailer".



The real estate investment trust (REIT) said it expects market conditions in the area to remain favourable, given a low level of supply coupled with strong demand for well-specified and well-located accommodation.



Laura Elkin, portfolio manager of AEW UK, said, "We are pleased to have purchased this very well-located, mixed-use asset at a day one yield that will be accretive to the company's earnings and brings the REIT one step closer to full deployment, with just £3m left to invest. Completion of the acquisition continues the strategic reinvestment of capital generated from recent sales into higher yielding assets in core urban locations."



The purchase follows AEW's <a href="https://news.completelyretail.co.uk/aew-acquires-windsor-royal-station-shopping-centre/">£18.5m acquisition of Windsor Royal Station</a> shopping centre, and its <a href="https://news.completelyretail.co.uk/aew-appoints-joint-letting-agents-at-windsor-royal-station/">subsequent appointment of letting agents</a>.
