Aldi has announced plans to invest £650m into expanding its presence across the UK. The supermarket retailer will invest the funds into developing new stores in locations such as Fulham Broadway in London, Billericay in Essex, and Cheadle in Stoke-on-Trent. Aldi is planning to open around 30 new stores in 2025 as it looks to reach its long-term target of 1,500 locations in the UK. Recently, the supermarket announced that it is opening 11 new stores in the run-up to Christmas, capping off a year in which it invested £800m into its store estate.

CBRE Investment Management has agreed a deal with Sainsbury's to open a new Sainsbury's Local store at Hammersmith Broadway shopping centre in West London. The supermarket retailer has agreed a 15-year lease for a 5,000 sq ft store, set across Units 30 and 31-32, previously occupied by Little Farm and Boots respectively. Archie Morriss of GCW, which advised CBRE IM, said: “After competitive bids were called, which highlighted the strength in demand for food stores in London, Sainsbury’s were selected as the preferred operator for the combined units.

Wilko has made its return to West London after opening a new store at The Pavilions Shopping Centre in Uxbridge. The variety retailer's new 30,000 sq ft store offers a range of products across categories such as cleaning and laundry, decorating and DIY, home and garden, and pet care. Customers are also be able to access Wilko's full range of products via self-service terminals, with options for home delivery and click-and-collect.
