A number of long-term retailers at Derbion have invested over £5m into the centre during the first half of 2024, as the Derby scheme gears up for a busy end to the year. Several retailers have invested in store upgrades, fitouts, upsizes, and relocations at the scheme, meaning that retailers have committed a total of £35.6m into Derbion since 2021. Derbion shopping centre has confirmed that work to transform a new gateway to Derby city centre will begin this month, after funding arrangements were approved by Derby City Council. The Eastern Gateway will create a new façade and urban garden, transforming the area opposite the bus station and the eastern entrance to Derbion. The project – which is expected to complete in the first half of 2025 – is being party-funded by the Government's Future High Street fund.
