CBRE Investment Management has acquired a retail park in Ashton-Under-Lyne in Manchester from Orchard Street Investment Management for £62m. Located five miles east of the city centre, Snipe Retail Park spans 242,000 sq ft and is anchored by B&Q. CBRE IM was represented by Xprop, whilst Savills acted for Orchard Street. James Hurst, director in investment at Savills, said: “2024 has proved to be a resurgent year in the retail warehouse investment market with strong trade, low vacancy and rental growth driving investment volumes in excess of £3 billion, for only the third time in the last decade.

Manchester Arndale shopping centre is nearing full occupancy after a 2024 which saw the scheme welcome 23 brands for a total of 223,748 sq ft of space. Joint asset managers M&G Real Estate and Global Mutual – alongside retained leasing agents Metis Real Estate and Time Retail Partners as well as retained lease advisory agents Green & Partners – also secured 14 lease renewals and six regears over the past 12 months.

Market Place in Bolton has welcomed the opening of five new stores within the last six months, totalling over 33,000 sq ft of space. Leading the new arrivals is Primark, which relocated from its existing store at Crompton Place Shopping Centre to a 26,300 sq ft unit within the former Debenhams store. The new store – which forms part of Primark's £100m investment into its UK store estate – features a modern layout with self-checkout facilities and LED lighting.
