Ikea is set to open its first-ever store in York with the opening of a 'Plan and Order' point at Clifton Moor Retail Park. The retailer's Plan and Order Points are smaller stores, which look to provide customers with bespoke kitchen and storage planning services. At these locations, customers can access furnishing advice from Ikea workers, who can assist them in planning, purchasing, and installing their kitchens and bedroom and living room storage.

Oliver Bonas is set to relocate its store in York, with the fashion and homeware retailer moving from 35 Stonegate to the former Boots store 1 King's Square. The retailer will occupy the 2,164 sq ft ground floor of the building, with Helmsley Group – which agreed the letting – looking to transform the unused upper floors into residential accommodation. Subject to planning approval, the project will help realise Helmsley Group's aspirations to bring residential space to unused upper floors throughout the city.

Legal & General has sold a landmark building in York city centre to Buccleuch Property for £5.25m. The property at 2-4 St Helen's Square is currently leased to the Ivy Restaurant Group and Castle Fine Art. Jackson Criss acted on behalf of Legal & General, whilst MHPI acted for Buccleuch Property. Philip Eves, investment director at Buccleuch Property, said: “We are thrilled to announce the acquisition of this historic property in the heart of York city centre.
