The Bridges Shopping Centre in Sunderland has secured 10 new lettings, including seven relocations, since its acquisition by M Core in summer 2024. Leading the centre's leasing activity is the relocation of TK Maxx, which moved from outside the scheme into a large new unit next to Primark in early 2026. This momentum continued with a flurry of national and international arrivals. Two regional firsts were secured, including pretzel brand Auntie Anne’s, which opened its first North East site in September 2025, and pan-Asian noodle chain Chopstix, which launched in December 2025.

A multimillion pound retail development in Sunderland has now opened and has been brought to market. Located on the site of the former Farringdon Hall Police Station and adjacent land, the fully-let retail park spans 32,452 sq ft and is home to a B&M Homestorea with a garden centre, a Costa Drive-thru, Greggs, Dicksons Butchers, The Tanning Shop, and Westway Vets. London-based private real estate company Ashtrom Properties UK (APUK) has acquired Retail World at Team Valley shopping park in Gateshead from Ares Management for £105m. The scheme extends to 391,000 sq ft and is home to a mix of more than 30 brands. Tenants include Asda, B&M, Currys, Decathlon, M&S, McDonald's, Sports Direct, Superdrug, TK Maxx, and Wren Kitchens.
