The shopping centre is the retail heart of Grays. It was originally built in 1974 and has undergone a minor refurbishment including the provision of new toilets and a completely refurbished multi-storey car park. The scheme is anchored by Wilko, Iceland, Peacocks & Poundland with other well known retailers represented including Select, Burger King, Costa, Warren James, Sports Direct & CEX.
The shopping centre has gone through a process of change that now offers the shopper a far more inviting environment with the newly refurbished multi-storey car park and the remodelling and refurbishment of the toilets, rebranding of the scheme with new signage. The development of the 35,000 sq ft office building is also pending.
South Essex College re-located in close proximity to the Centre in September 2014 and is a state of the art facility with around 3,000 staff and students. The College has been a resounding success and there are plans to further expand the College.
Gray’s is a commuter town and the largest town in Thurrock. The town is approximately 20 miles (32 km) to the east of London on the north bank of the River Thames and 2 miles (3.2 km) to the east of the M25 motorway. C2C run regular services to London Fenchurch Street with journey times of approximately 35 minutes.
