A shopping centre in Shropshire could be demolished under plans to support a regeneration project in Shrewsbury town centre. Proposals to demolish Riverside Shopping Centre have been recommended for approval ahead of a planning committee meeting in March. Under the proposals a medical centre, a police station, a former nightclub, and bridges connecting the scheme to a car park and the closed Pride Hill Shopping Centre will also be demolished.

Leisure space in Shrewsbury could be up for grabs under proposals which are set to be approved by Shropshire Council next week. The project, called Smithfield Riverside, is being led by the council and development partner RivingtonHark. Under the proposals, the area between The Darwin centre, Roushill and the River Severn in Shrewsbury town centre will be redeveloped to create a mix of leisure, residential, office and outdoor public spaces.
