Landsec has lodged plans to create a £17m public square on the site of the former Debenhams at St David's in Cardiff. The former department store – which is currently being demolished – will make way for a 102,041 sq ft city square, with a raised terrace with space for two restaurants. The proposals also include plans for a splash pad and play park, and there is potential for the site to host markets, street food vendors, and other events.

Landsec and Lone Design Club (LDC) are set to launch a new pop-up destination at St David's Dewi Sant, Cardiff, in a bid to support innovative direct-to-consumer (D2C) brands. Opening in September, CO.LAB will offer over 80 brands the opportunity to trial the performance of their business in a retail environment. The 5,000 sq ft space will feature shop-in-shop concession units designed to each brand's individual style, a shared event space, and a community-focused model designed to support the physical retail presence of emerging brands.

Landsec has signed three deals with Inditex across two of its destinations, which will see the fashion retail group take 28,000 sq ft of space in total. At St David's in Cardiff, Pull&Bear is set to make its Welsh debut, after agreeing to take 8,500 sq ft across two floors. The signing means that St David's will be home to all five of Inditex's brands, bringing the group's total footprint at the scheme to over 60,000 sq ft.
