Schuh to open flagship store at Edinburgh's St James Quarter

Schuh is set to open a flagship Scottish store at St James Quarter in Edinburgh. The footwear brand has agreed to take a 5,500 sq ft space on Level One of the Galleria, joining retailers such as Superdrug, Boots, and Moss. Schuh's new store will feature the brand's revamped concept, which includes digital screens, a redesigned layout, and updated product displays. The arrival of Schuh – which itself was founded in Edinburgh – will bring Level One of St James Quarter to 100% let.

DTZ acquires Edinburgh Waitrose and Kwik-Fit branches

DTZ Investors has acquired a Waitrose store and a Kwik-Fit branch at Morningside, Edinburgh, in a deal that exceeded the asking price of £18.5m. The two properties are located on the same retail parade, with the Waitrose store comprising 33,347 sq ft of retail space whilst Kwik-Fit occupies the adjacent 12,795 sq ft garage. Knight Frank – which acted for DTZ – said the two properties are amongst the brands' strongest trading locations.

Edinburgh's largest brownfield site set for £1.3bn development

The City of Edinburgh Council has unveiled plans to transform the city's largest brownfield site into a mixed-use development. The proposals – created in partnership with Cruden Homes – outline the first phase of a £1.3bn sustainable coastal town at Granton Waterfront. Included are over 800 homes, as well as commercial units, transport infrastructure, new public spaces, capacity for a new school, and a low carbon heat network.
