St James’s Park station is located north of the River Thames in the City of Westminster, the heart of Central London. It is in underground zone 1, found between Victoria and Westminster stations, and served by the District and Circle tube lines. The station had an annual footfall of 13.5 million people in 2011 and can be accessed from a number of streets including Petty France, Broadway and Palmer Streets.

It is positioned on the southern edge of the St James’ area and adjacent sites include London St James’ Park which covers over 23 acres and Scotland Yard, the headquarters of the Metropolitan Police. There are various Government offices in the close vicinity and popular attractions, such as the House of Lords and Westminster Abbey, are found only a short distance away.
