The Market House is an 1838 built Grade 2 listed two-storey property located in the Market Place, and originally built to replace Kingston’s Tudor Town Hall building. A gilded statue of Queen Anne was transferred from the Tudor Building to the front of the Market House. From 1840, the building was used as Kingston’s Guildhall, until the current Guildhall was built in 1935. The building was then used as the town’s Market House until 1995. From 2000 to 2004, the ground floor was occupied as a café.

The building is iconic to Kingston Town Centre and forms the heart of the newly refurbished and hugely vibrant Market Place. The property is a iconic landmark building and the focal point of the Ancient Market Place in Kingston, one of the major retail destinations in the Country. The Ancient Market Place is easily recognisable and a focal point for the annual Ride London Bicycle Race.
