Under Armour is set to make its bricks-and-mortar debut in Northern Ireland at The Boulevard in Banbridge.



The sportswear brand will be opening in a 2,589 sq ft unit at the designer outlet centre in November.



Under Armour's signing at The Boulevard follow's the centre's best-ever trading period this summer, with sales increasing by 10% year-on-year.



The scheme has also renewed long-standing tenant Next's lease and has welcomed Molton Brown to a permanent lease following a pop-up campaign.



Paul McCann, asset manager at Lotus Property, the owner of The Boulevard, said: “Year-on-year The Boulevard is consistently outperforming its own record-breaking sales figures and is shooting up the league tables against its counterparts across the UK and Ireland. We are excited to welcome Under Armour onboard.



“The sports and fitness categories have consistently performed well at The Boulevard. It’s something our shoppers want and the arrival of Under Armour will really strengthen our offering.”

A number of retailers at The Boulevard Designer Outlet in <a href="https://completelyretail.co.uk/shops-to-rent/banbridge">Banbridge</a>, Northern Ireland, are set to expand their store footprints after signing new deals.



Mountain Warehouse will be extending the size of its store to 3,552 sq ft as it adds the Animal surf brand, which it acquired in 2021, to its offering.



Levi's has also expanded, with the clothing brand recently moving to a 50% larger store in a more prominent location, while Toytown has also expanded to incorporate its baby and nursery range.



The Boulevard said the signings represent a strong level of confidence in the scheme, which is run by asset manager Lotus Property. It added that a number of other brands are also set to announce leasing extensions in the coming months.



Chris Nelmes, retail director at The Boulevard, said: "We are extremely encouraged by the steady stream of retailer expansions and investments at The Boulevard in recent times. Our stores have been recording excellent sales figures, many higher than the industry average thanks to the high volume of footfall from both northern and southern Ireland, a unique benefit given our convenient location on the main <a href="https://completelyretail.co.uk/shops-to-rent/belfast">Belfast</a> to <a href="https://completelyretail.co.uk/shops-to-rent/dublin">Dublin</a> motorway."

Plans for a 13-apartment aparthotel with an accompanying café restaurant have been approved by <a href="https://completelyretail.co.uk/shops-to-rent/newcastle-upon-tyne">Newcastle</a> City Council.



The project will see the redevelopment of a Grade II listed site at 1 Old Eldon Square which has been vacant for a number of years.



The aparthotel scheme will be spread across the first, second, and third floors with the further development of a café restaurant overlooking Old Eldon Square.



The firm behind the development, Belgravia Investment Group, said it would have little to no impact on the building's historic fabric and will help secure its future. The plans would see the retention of a number of historic features of the 19th century building, including fireplaces and cornices, as well as the refurbishment of a number of fixtures and fittings.



Sean Hedley, managing director at Hedley Planning Services, who secured approval from the council, said: "This is an exciting regeneration investment that will bring an important historic location back to life. The serviced rooms and studios will deliver a much-needed style of flexible visitor accommodation. In Newcastle city centre a demand exists for alternative visitor accommodation to a non-distinct hotel room."



Hedley Planning Services has also recently secured planning approval to transform Northumberland Road's Pacific House into a student accommodation-anchored mixed-use site. The lower ground floor will be converted from storage space into Cool Pool Bar while a commercial space will open on the ground floor.
