Rosa's Thai is set to open its first restaurant in East Anglia after securing a unit at <a href="https://completelyretail.co.uk/scheme/chantry-place-norwich-3879">Chantry Place</a> in <a href="https://completelyretail.co.uk/shops-to-rent/norwich">Norwich</a>.



Taking a split of the former Byron unit, the Thai restaurant operator will occupy 3,100 sq ft of space and join the likes of Wagamama, The Real Greek, and Urban Outfitters on Chantry Square.



The expanding Thai food concept is planning between to open around 10 further sites in 2024. The chain <a href="https://news.completelyretail.co.uk/rosas-thai-cooks-up-guildford-opening-amid-expansion/">opened its first site in Surrey in Guildford in January</a> and <a href="https://news.completelyretail.co.uk/rosas-thai-hungry-for-growth-as-it-launches-in-scotland/">launched in Scotland for the first time</a> in September 2023.

Educational STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) brand Engino has made its UK debut at <a href="https://completelyretail.co.uk/scheme/castle-quarter-norwich-3840">Castle Quarter</a> in <a href="https://completelyretail.co.uk/shops-to-rent/norwich">Norwich</a>.



The brand has taken 4,405 sq ft of space across Units 54 and 55 on a ten-year lease.



Whilst also selling Engino’s range of STEM toys aimed at children from 18 months upwards, the store is home to an education and entertainment area, enabling visitors to test out the brand’s unique building system.



Launched in Cyprus in 2004, Engino is a modular plastic system designed to enable children to construct vehicles, buildings, and robotic machines. Its products are available from 57 locations across the United States and Europe.



Castle Quarter has recently repositioned towards more social, leisure, and lifestyle operators whilst retaining a traditional retail core. This has brought new brands to the destination such as Boom Battle Bar, Putt Putt Noodle and Escape Hunt. New dining options have also arrived, such as independent restaurants Silhouette and Hank’s Dirty, and the ‘market hall’ style Castle Social. Vue has also committed to a major refurbishment of its eight-screen cinema at the destination.



In 2023, <a href="https://news.completelyretail.co.uk/norwichs-castle-quarter-sees-footfall-surge-9/">visitor numbers at Castle Quarter grew by 9% year-on-year</a>, whilst 75% of occupiers posted higher trading figures compared to 2022.

Educational toys brand makes UK debut at Norwich's Castle Quarter

<a href="https://completelyretail.co.uk/shops-to-rent/norwich">Norwich's</a> <a href="https://completelyretail.co.uk/scheme/castle-quarter-norwich-3840">Castle Quarter</a> saw a year-on-year increase in footfall of 8.8% in 2023, following the scheme's pivot into a social, leisure, and lifestyle destination.



Visitor numbers at Castle Quarter increased by seven times more than in Norwich as a whole (+1.2%), and more than twice the rates in the East of England region (+3.5%) and the UK (+3.1%).



The increase in visitors was reflected in a number of performance indicators across the scheme, with over 75% of occupiers posting higher trading figures compared to 2022. Footfall, average dwell time, and car park usage all increased year-on-year during every month of 2023.



Whilst maintaining its traditional retail footprint, <a href="https://news.completelyretail.co.uk/leisure-repositioning-drives-norwich-scheme-footfall-surge/">an increase in the number of uses now means leisure, food and beverage, and community services account for 50% of Castle Quarter's footprint</a>.



Notable additions to the scheme include Boom Battle Bar, Putt Putt Noodle, Escape Hunt and Vector VR, independent restaurant chain Silhouette, and Castle Social, a ‘market hall’ style street food and entertainment concept.



More growth is expected in 2024 as new operators arrive and the adjacent Norwich Castle reopens following a £14m refurbishment.
